The U.S. market closed lower due to disappointing earnings from Netflix, which weighed on the technology sector, and growing investor caution ahead of Tesla’s upcoming results amid corporate earnings season. The 10-year US Treasury yield fell -0.18% (-0.007bps) to 3.952%, while the USD Index slipped -0.05% to 98.89.
Commodity markets closed mostly higher on Wednesday (22 Oct): WTI crude +1.67% to USD 58.5/bbl, Brent crude +2.07% to USD 62.6/bbl, coal +0.19% to USD 106.7/ton, CPO -1.09% to MYR 4,456.0, and gold slumped -0.65% to USD 4,098.4/oz.
Asian markets closed mostly lower on Wednesday (22 Oct): Nikkei -0.02%, Kospi +1.56%, Hang Seng -0.94%, and Shanghai -0.07%. The JCI weakened -1.04% to 8,152.6, with total net foreign buy of IDR 120.1 billion; IDR 170.2 billion in the regular market, and IDR -50.1 billion in the negotiated market. The largest foreign inflow in the regular market was recorded by BBCA (IDR 235 billion), followed by ASII (IDR 166.5 billion), and PTRO (IDR 96.5 billion). The largest foreign outflow in the regular market was recorded by BBRI (IDR 240.6 billion), followed by ANTM (IDR 57.3 billion), and BMRI (IDR 55.1 billion). Top leading movers are ASII, RISE, PTRO, while top lagging movers are BBCA, TLKM, BBRI.
This morning, the Kospi (-1.33%) and Nikkei (-1.70%) opened lower. We expect the JCI to decline today given negative sentiment from regional and global markets.
